Hope: Holding on to an invisible rope

Definition:

Noun

A feeling of expectation and desire for certain thing to happen

Hello Internet friends,

This is for you.

The college student who had high expectations of employment upon graduation. Studied hard and spend loads of money for a degree. Getting let down by potential employers. How does one get experience if they can’t get a job? Days, weeks, months are getting longer. Months passed, still nothing. Constantly checking the time every 20 mins and being glued to your phone all day just in case you get an email or call back. Sacrificing your wellbeing to work multiple minimum wage jobs but still applying to more hoping you land your hands on your dream career. Wondering if it was all worth it. Bills are piling up, inventory is running low and so is your bank account. Refusing financial help from family and friends to being a burden. Feeling like a failure because you can’t seem to elevate while your peers are being hired or promoted.

To anyone struggling with their mental health, there’s something out there for you. Your emotions and pain are valid, big or small. The kid who’s been drowning in a pool of mental illness, fearing that the hurting will last forever. I see you. Wondering if you have a purpose. Feeling trapped and suffocated by anxiety telling you that you don’t matter, that the world is better with you. You are not a burden.

Trust the wait. As cliché as it sounds, it does get better. I know it’s hard and you want to let go. You gave up so many times on your dreams because it felt like it wasn’t for you. God (universe, if you are not religious) has been showing you that it wasn’t the time. He’s not in a hurry. I promise you the period of struggle will pay off. I know your friends and peers are getting a new job, house, promotion, vacation. What about you? Your time will come. Hold that rope tight and keep climbing. Taking care of yourself is the first step. Your freedom and happiness are at the end of the tunnel. Seeing others living your dream should motivate you. You’ll purchase that condo you’ve been dreaming of, that job or career you’ve been hustling for, paying off all the debt you owe the bank and your friends, finally having a group of friends that mutually care about you. That fire isn’t completely gone. Deep underground but it’s still there. That’s why you can’t give up. Change your method and see what works for you but stay in your lane. Please don’t lose yourself in the “hustle” culture. Good things happen to people who wait.

Thank you for existing
